Superior antibacterial performance – BSI PAS 2424
The Actizone team recognised there was a need for a testing method by which long-lasting antimicrobial activity could be independently measured and assessed. However, historically there was no European or International Standard test methodology for assessing the residual antimicrobial activity of a chemical disinfectant/antimicrobial product. Working with the British Standards Institute (BSI) they developed a new consensus-based test method, PAS 2424, to allow the long-lasting antimicrobial activity of different products to be independently demonstrated and proven. BSI built an independent steering group with, representatives from organisations with expertise in test development; healthcare professionals; consumer groups; professional bodies; and the HSE.
The analysis from the steering group, as well as the feedback received during the public consultation, ensures a robust test method has been developed to show differentiation between different antimicrobial technologies and brands. PAS 2424 reflects, within a laboratory test method, the actual household conditions in which a product has to perform to give long lasting protection from everyday bacteria in a real life situation.
